M. Kamalathal,82-year old lady is famous in Coimbatore district for her '1 rupee idly'.She provides fluffy, yummy Idlis with delicious sambar and chutney(South Indian recipe) at a cost of Rs.1. She had been doing this for past 30 years to serve hungry stomachs. Before 10 years she sold an Idly at 50 paise. Her shop is situated in Vadivelampalayam near Coimbatore. It is a home cum shop and she lives alone.Here routine starts with 5:30 A.M and sells idly from morning 6 A.M till 10 A.M. She uses a wood-burning stove to cook. When people asked to use gas stove, she said"I don't know to use it".
"Most people residing near vadivelampalayam comes from lower-middle class family where they go daily wages and it would be so hard for them to get their breakfast for Rs.15 or Rs.20 for a plate of idly",she added it in New India Express .
