A tragic day which brings back miserable memory of the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy.It was due to gas leak that took place at LG polymers chemical plant. In 1961 LG polymers were established as "Hindustan Polymers" to manufacture polystyrene ans its co-polymers-a plastic used to make a wide range of items like toys and appliances.

11 dead,over 200 hospitalized and 100 evacuated
On Thursday morning after gas leaked from chemical plant of LG polymers industry at RR Venkatapuram near Naiduthota area between 2.30 am and 3 am and reportedly spread over a radius of about 3 km, affecting at least five villages.Poisonous styrene gas leaked from the plant during the early hours of the morning-3 am, when families in the surrounding villages were asleep.11 persons including two senior citizens and an 8-year old girl, died.Many people found lying unconscious on the roads with breathing difficulties and rashes on their body with soar eyes.

Rs 1 Crore Compensation-Andhra CM
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced compensation of Rs 1 crore each to the kin of those who have been killed in the tragedy. Rs 10 lakh each for the victims undergoing treatment on ventilator in hospital. Rs 1 lakh each who are hospitalized with no ventilator as compensation. The arrangements were made for reopening the plant after more than 40 days of closure.
